Don't blame leagues for non-league football season being ended

Lewes chairman Stuart Fuller says it is wrong to accuse leagues of being responsible for the fact there will be more matches for clubs at steps three to six of the non-league pyramid.

Fuller, who is on the Isthmian League board, said it was an FA move - still to be confirmed by the FA Council - following a majority vote by clubs to curtail the season.

It means there will be no more league games for teams at Isthmian League and Southern Combination level until the start of next season, and that has provoked criticism from those who felt the current campaign could be salvaged.
